A little INfo
Screen printing is a printing techique used to push ink through a mesh stencil onto textiles. Each colour in your design requires a different stencil (or screen) to be made. Once the screens are made we make sure all colours line up (or register) to one another. We then print all the garments on an automated press which is capable of incredibly precise, repeatable printing on 1,000’s of t-shirts a day using the same screens. Even after the introduction of digital garment printing, screen printing remains the best process for printing textiles. For more information about screen printing, have a look at this Wikipedia article.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
We have some of our most popular garments priced on our offers page, which are available to buy online. The offers should give you a good idea of our competitive rates (all offers include VAT & UK delivery). We also have "from" prices for individual garments (excluding print costs) in our online catalogue so you can see the price difference between certain garments. It's worth mentioning that our catalogue is not a complete list of everything we source, just a selection of our most popular items. If you're after a garment that isn't listed, drop us an email / call & we'll no doubt be able to source it for you. It's worth noting our minimum order starts at 20pcs per design / garment, but we recommend getting at least 25 / 50 for better price breaks. For multicolour prints, our minimum starts at 20 pcs for up to 2 colours, then an additional 10 items per colour / screen. You can have a mix of sizes included in this.
WHY USE MONSTER PRESS?
Since we started screen printing back in 2006 we have been tirelessly working towards improving our print quality & efficiency. Dialling in every part of the process so we can produce high quality screen printed clothing with absolute consistancy & ever increasing efficiency. This means we can produce unrivalled quality screen prints, for very competitive prices, with a fast turnaround time.
It can seem a little overwhelming with all the available print finishes available, so here's a simple breakdown of our most popular inks & the print finishes they will produce. As with most services we offer, if you have a particular finish or style in mind, make sure you let us know before ordering & we should be able to help!
Although called Premium Standard, nothing is standard about this printing process. We believe you shouldn't have to pay extra for a great print finish, so we offer hybrid style (discharge underbase) with our usual inks printed on top as standard. This allows us to strike the perfect balance between colour vibrancy/accuracy & a soft, breathable, yet very durable print, which only gets softer after the first wash. Premium Standard inks are generally available on garments containing 80% or more cotton. There are some colours that often wont be printable using this method including Green, Red, Royal Blue, Purple, Teal, and Turquoise.
Discharge printing is increasingly popular with fashion brands, the ink evaporates the dye from the garment & replaces it with pigment from the ink, leaving a very soft print with almost no feel. The print wont crack or fade over time, as the garment is permanently dyed the ink colour. There are some limitations with this method of printing, as mentioned above it's limited depending on the fabric material & colour. One downside is that colour matching & vibrancy can be an issue, so we can only provide approximate print colours. For designs with bright colours or where the colours have to be just right we recommend Premium Standard.
95% of printers will use this ink as standard. It generally leaves a thicker ink deposit than the above ink types & will generally have a satin - glossy finish. The good thing about plastisol inks, & why they're so popular is you can print on pretty much every garment, & they're "user friendly". We usually try to avoid using plastisol, but it's the only alternative for garments that can't be printed with either Premium Standard or Discharge.
When products don't have a suitable surface to printing, usually due to an unconventional shape, we can print plastisol transfers & use a heat press to apply the design to the garment. Our most popular products we use transfers on are trucker hats, jackets, lycra products, & bags that can't be directly printed.
Waterbased ink, like discharge will leave a very soft, durable finish. The inks are low opacity so can only be printed on white / light coloured garments. The plus side to the low opacity is waterbased will give great results when printing full colour photographic images as the ink blends really nicely. Waterbased inks are generally considered to be the most eco friendly, as they're water soluble.
Speciality Inks / Prints
We offer a whole load of speciality inks & printing, but here's some of our most popular. If you're after a special effect that isn't mentioned here, just ask & I'm sure we can sort something out for you!
